Best Tools for New Entrepreneurs

Finding the basic resources needed for your entrepreneurship endeavors can be a difficult process if you are a new entrepreneur and it can be especially difficult as a minority.

Here is a small list of four funding and/or training options for minority entrepreneurs that can help you make your dreams a reality.

Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA)

This is actually something you must look into if you are a new entrepreneur. Considering that minorities are get loans for their business funding,  MBDA helps invest in minority-owned businesses. They also provide helpful tools to get your business started.

College/University

Many universities provide great resources for young entrepreneurs to get their business started. These programs can assist with funding and training. You just have to make sure you successfully pitch your idea. My university actually paid students to interview people who could potentially be part of their target audience to see if the idea alone was worth working towards.

SCORE

This is a great program if you are looking for a mentor. Trust me, you need a mentor if you're just starting out. What's amazing about this organization is that the mentoring service is FREE. Considering I'm a very introverted person, I find it easier to email mentors than to initially talk in person, so this program is really convenient to me.

U.S.Small Business Association (USBA)- If you've actually started planning for your business, you've probably come across this organization. This organization provides useful tools for starting your business. This site alone provides most of the basic information needed to get your business on its feet.
